Abingdon
is located off of Interstate 81 just 12 miles northeast
of the Tennessee line. It is considered part
of the Tri-cities area, made up of Bristol, Virginia-Tennessee;
Kingsport, Tennessee; and Johnson City, Tennessee.
Roanoke, Virginia, is approximately 100 miles to the
northeast of Abingdon.
The Crooked Cabin--
is located between exits 17 & 19 off
of Interstate 81, the most heavily traveled North-South
route in our country. From the south, get off
at exit 17 and turn left off of the exit ramp on to
Rt. 75, Greensprings Road. You will be headed
toward downtown Abingdon. At the second light, after
you have passed a number of shopping areas, turn Right
on to Route 11E, Main Street. Travel approximately
3/4 of a mile, passing the county court house on your
left. After you pass the court house, you will come
to the bottom of a small hill and The Crooked Cabin
is on the left at the Main/Tanner Streets intersection.
From the North, get off at exit 19 and turn right
on to Route 11W at the exit ramp. Travel approximately
2 1/2 miles, passing a shopping center and cemetery
on your right and another shopping center on your
left. Continue down Main Street to the intersection
of Main and Tanner. The Cabin will be on your right
just before Tanner Street. Parking is available on
the street out front or behind.
The Meadow Cottage--follow the above directions
and turn Left on to Tanner St., Right on to Valley
St. and at the end of Valley, bear Left on to Walden
Rd.You will immediately see three Victorian houses
in front of you. Turn Left onto the gravel alley and
follow it around the houses, straight back to the
cottage.
From the North, get off at exit 19 and turn right
on to Route 11W at the exit ramp. Travel approximately
2 1/2 miles, passing a shopping center and cemetery
on your right and another shopping center on your
left. Continue down Main Street to the intersection
of Main and Tanner. Turn right onto Valley Street.
Continue along Valley Street - name changes to Walden
Road.
Th Brook House--Follow
directions for Meadow Cottage . When you get to the
end of Valley Street , the Brook will be the last
house on the left. Turn the corner onto Walden Road
and make an immediate left into the driveway.
