The Brook House, our largest property, is located on Abingdon's oldest residential street right in the historic district. The location is wonderful for exploring the town . Follow the brick sidewalks to interesting shops and galleries, great restaurants and the Coomes Recreation Center, Barter Theatre and The Virginia Creeper Trail are just minutes away by bike or on foot. The Brook House is a lovely spacious three bedroom property with lots of character. Hardwood floors, antiques , lovely furnishings and accessories provide offer a unique home away from home. This property is a perfect vacation spot for family gatherings, friend reunions, as well as extended stays in the area. Over 3000 square feet of living area offers many spaces for privacy as well as group visiting and entertaining. The house has three bedrooms. The two large queens on the main level are spacious and airy. A full bath is on the main level. The second floor dormer room is complete with four twins, a sitting room and its own bath. Fine linens and bedding as well as fluffy bathrobes await our guests. The charming living room is extra large and windows look out to the shaded acre lot that is surrounded by old trees. It is a perfect room for entertaining or just relaxing with a game of bridge or a good book. There is a card and/board game area in one end of the living room. A separate dining room boasts a large pine table perfect for visiting. The fully equipped kitchen opens into a den / TV room. The den has a pull sofa bed . Wifi and cable are included. Enjoy breakfast or lunch on the back porch which overlooks the Olde Towne Creek which meanders through the back yard. Children will love hunting for crawdads or watching the ducks float by. Adirondack chairs by the stream offer a great place to relax with a good book. In the fall, pull the chairs around the fire pit and enjoy a cozy evening under the stars. Complimentary pastries, juices and coffees/teas are provided on arrival morning. May be rented with Creekside Hatch for larger parties.
Directions:
The Brook House and Creekside Hatch are located at 459 East Valley Street. From the south, get off at exit 17 and turn left off of the exit ramp on to Rt. 75, Greensprings Road. You will be headed toward downtown Abingdon. At the traffic light, after the Kroger shopping area, turn Right on to Route 11E, Main Street. Travel approximately 3/4 of a mile, passing the county court house on your left. At the bottom of the hill , turn left on to Tanner St., Right on to Valley St. and at the end of Valley, bear Left on to Walden Road. You will immediately see three Victorian houses in front of you.
When you get to the end of Valley Street, the Brook will be the last house on the left. Turn the corner onto Walden Road and make an immediate left into the driveway. You will see a pedestrian bridge over the creek to your right as you turn in drive.
